Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC)

Updated 03/07/2024

Providing the Service

We have been working with Lincolnshire Community Health Services (LCHS) who took over the Lincolnshire EHC service from Lincolnshire County Council as from 1st July 2024, to simplify and streamline the contract for provision. The service forms part of a contract awarded to LCHS to deliver integrated sexual health services across Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire Borough Council which commenced on 01 April 2024.

LCHS are keen to increase the number of pharmacies where EHC can be accessed and encourage any pharmacies interested in delivering EHC to complete the expression of interest document below and forward to licb.lchscontracts@nhs.net. Alternatively, if there are queries in relation to this service please share to the same email and a member of their  team will follow up with you. Full LCHS Service Requirements for the provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) in Lincolnshire can also be found at the link below.

Training

Pharmacists providing the service must ensure that they have completed adequate training. Assessment of this is through a Declaration of Competence; you can find out more about the Declaration of Competence model at www.cppe.ac.uk/services/declaration-of-competence

Pharmacists must also ensure that they have up-to-date and appropriate safeguarding training in place.

Further details of the training and skills required can be found in the service documents and the PGD.

Please contact LCHS for up to date service documentation
